MXME

A Bright Fusion of Garage, French Touch, Funk and synth-tinged elements.

MXME is the current creative manifestation of Maxime Cescau, a French-born, Portugal-based artist whose career serves as a bridge between the precision of engineering and the fluidity of the dancefloor. Cescau is no stranger to the underground; as the mind behind the influential Artizan Music imprint and aliases like Poussez and Tonrausch, he was a key architect in the deep and tech-house foundations of the early 2000s.

However, MXME represents a departure from the shadows into a more vivid, chromatic sonic territory. Moving away from his roots, he has refined a genre-agnostic sound he playfully terms “Tropical Laserbeam” - a high-energy fusion where the grit of UK Garage meets the shimmering gloss of French Touch and Disco Funk.

His recent output reflects a prolific purple patch. Following 2024’s Lagos Disco Album and the Rampart EP, Cescau solidified his new direction with the CODEC series in 2025. Tracks like "You Gone Did It" and "Sounded Dark" exemplify this shift, pairing technical craftsmanship with an inventive, synth-tinged optimism that feels both nostalgic and distinctly futuristic.
